Conveyors for multi-level warehouses & factories

Connect production floors, mezzanines and packing areas through a planned vertical transfer with controlled infeed and discharge.

Vertical conveyors, Equipment overview
Equipment illustration

Moving goods between floors is a complete transfer task, including the waiting positions at both ends. A vertical conveyor must coordinate with the upstream line, the receiving level and the building opening. Start with the goods envelope, floor arrangement and required movement pattern before selecting continuous or reciprocating motion.

How the goods move

  1. Control the infeed

Hold and release goods only when the vertical transfer is ready to receive them.

  2. Move between levels

Select the lifting arrangement for the goods, levels and required flow pattern.

  3. Clear the receiving area

Coordinate discharge with the next conveyor so goods do not block the transfer point.

Choose the right arrangement

Continuous or reciprocating?

Continuous movement can suit a repeated goods stream. A reciprocating carrier serves defined movements between stops. The choice depends on load, level interfaces, directions and cycle requirements, not floor height alone.

Plan the building interface

Reserve space for guarding, maintenance and the load path. Define responsibility for floor openings, structural checks and interlocks. Vertical goods conveyors are not passenger lifts.

Prepare your project brief

  • Floor-to-floor heights, number of stops and infeed/outfeed directions
  • Load envelope, weight, arrival rate and required movement sequence
  • Building drawing, openings, guarding and service access

Agree the complete project scope

The proposal defines the goods, layout, controls, software interfaces, guarding, delivery and commissioning responsibilities. Capacity and acceptance criteria are specified for the selected configuration.

Planning questions

Can one conveyor serve more than two levels?

List every required stop and direction. Multi-level service depends on the selected mechanism, control sequence and building interfaces, and must be specified for that layout.
