Flexible conveyors for changing dispatch layouts

Create a movable carton route for seasonal dispatch, shared aisles and changing workstations, with powered or gravity movement.

Powered flexible roller conveyors, Equipment overview

A dispatch area may need to become an aisle again after the shift. Expandable conveyors connect changing points and retract for storage, but the smallest carton still needs support on the tightest curve. Compare manual or gravity movement with powered movement before choosing the line.

How the goods move

  1. Receive the carton

Set a handover height and stopping arrangement suited to the packing operator.

  2. Adapt the route

Extend or curve the route within its selected operating geometry.

  3. Select the receiving support

Compare full-width rollers and passive skatewheels for the carton base and handover.

Choose the right arrangement

Powered movement or operator assistance?

Powered expandable rollers suit selected cartons that need driven travel. Gravity rollers or skatewheels depend on slope or manual assistance; they do not provide automatic accumulation or controlled speed by themselves.

Check the operating and storage shapes

Review the fully extended route, tightest curve and retracted footprint. Keep access to braked castors, connectors and controls; allow for cable movement on powered versions.

Prepare your project brief

  • Longest route, tightest curve, handover heights and storage space
  • Smallest carton base, load range and required operator involvement
  • Changing workstation positions, aisle access and power availability

Agree the complete project scope

The proposal defines the goods, layout, controls, software interfaces, guarding, delivery and commissioning responsibilities. Capacity and acceptance criteria are specified for the selected configuration.

Planning questions

Can a flexible line replace a fixed automated line?

Choose a fixed line when permanent machine interfaces, defined stop positions and coordinated automation are central. Choose flexibility when repositioning and storage are the main requirements.
